Privacy Policy
Missenger is built on trust. We handle phone calls for Ontario businesses, which means we take data protection seriously. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your rights under Canadian privacy law.
Effective date: May 6, 2026
1. What We Collect
We collect only what is necessary to provide and improve our AI receptionist service:
- Business information: Company name, address, phone numbers, services offered, hours of operation, and custom call-handling instructions you provide during onboarding.
- Call data: Audio recordings of calls answered by your Missenger AI, transcripts generated from those recordings, caller phone numbers, and call metadata (time, duration, outcome).
- Account data: Contact name, email address, billing information processed through Stripe, and account preferences.
- Website analytics: Anonymous usage data via our privacy-focused analytics platform (no third-party ad tracking).
2. How We Use Your Data
- To answer calls on behalf of your business according to your instructions.
- To transcribe and summarize calls so you can review what was said.
- To improve your AI's performance through prompt tuning and quality monitoring.
- To send you call summaries, billing notices, and service updates.
- To comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud or abuse.
We do not sell your data. We do not use call recordings to train generic AI models without your explicit consent.
3. Call Recordings and Retention
Call recordings are stored encrypted at rest for 90 days by default, after which they are automatically deleted. Transcripts and call summaries are retained for the life of your account so you can reference them. You can request earlier deletion of specific recordings at any time by emailing hello@missenger.com.
4. Third-Party Services
We use a small number of third-party services to deliver Missenger. Each is bound by contractual obligations to protect your data:
- Retell AI — powers the voice conversation engine.
- ElevenLabs — generates the custom AI voices for your business.
- Stripe — processes payments. Stripe handles your card data directly; we never store it.
- Cal.com — handles appointment scheduling when callers request bookings.
- SendGrid — delivers email notifications and call summaries.
5. Security
We encrypt data in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256). Access to production systems is restricted to essential personnel only. We conduct regular security reviews and maintain audit logs of all system access.
6. Your Rights Under PIPEDA
As a Canadian business, we comply with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you or your business.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Withdraw consent for certain uses of your data (subject to legal or contractual restrictions).
- File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe we have mishandled your data.
7. Cookies and Tracking
Our website does not use third-party advertising cookies. We use a single first-party analytics cookie to understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it. You can disable this in your browser settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy as our service evolves. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
